Anyone for Con.txt? Rideshare = money, fannish good deed
 I'm going to be going down to the Con.Txt slash con* on June 13-15. It's down in Silver Spring Maryland, and it's the replacement for good old Connexions.

The thing is, I don't really feel skilled enough at handling Beltway traffic to drive all the way down all by myself, so I'm hoping to catch a ride with a fellow fan or fans - both ways or one way. 

If you're passing through the tri-state area on the way down, I'd be more than happy to drive to meet you at the convenient pick up point of your choice anywhere in Jersey / Southern PA / Possibly New York suburbs. I'm leaving from Allentown in PA's Lehigh Valley, conveniently on Interstate Routes 78 and 22. I'd be happy to leave for the con on Thursday the 12th or Friday the 13th, driver's choice.

I would be *more* than happy to pay for all gas and tolls as well as food for the driver, and I'm a good navigator.

If you or some fellow fan that you know might be interested in this, please let me know. No, you don't need to know me or be on my f-list.

*(Still taking memberships, by the way.)

Are you going to Con.Txt? Or is she? Because that would be extra cool!

I, ah. Didn't mean to put anyone out of their way. I was aiming this at people for whom it *wouldn't* be out of their way. Sort of shared convenience and fun!

But if she's up for it, I'm up for it! It would be great to see you guys again!

If you were thinking of going but unsure, I already have a room booked at the cheap con rate and would not say no to a room mate or two.

Sadly, the con fees turned out to be just too high for [info]seanchai and me to go, but if you'd like to meet up in DC at any point that weekend, I can probably be available. I've also got a spare metro pass I can mail you, if you want (I have three metro passes currently, thanks to several rounds of forgetting my pass and having to buy a new one to get my car out of the parking lot).

Had said con been last month, I'd still have been at my grad school apartment in college park and would definately have gone, but now I'm back down in southern Maryland with no money.

Would you be able to take the train down to Union Station in DC? From there, it's a quick hop onto the Metro, and the hotel is only about 5 blocks from the Silver Spring Metro. You could leave your car and not have to worry about it all weekend.

That's really not practical for me. I'm not starting from anywhere near a train line. But thanks! I totally did that the one time I started from NYC and it worked great - it *is* good advice, just not useful this time.
